800 sqft

A hidden hut for a Pilates coach whose life revolves around movement, breath, posture, and presence this 800 sqft residence becomes more than a home; it becomes an extension of her philosophy. Every spatial decision is rooted in the same principles she teaches daily: alignment, balance, control, and intentional flow. Rather than preserving the apartment’s previously fragmented arrangement, the design reimagines the home as a continuous L-shaped sanctuary—an open choreography of living, dining, and culinary spaces that unfold with effortless grace. Just as the body performs best when tension is released and movement is uninterrupted, the architecture removes unnecessary boundaries, allowing each area to breathe and connect naturally. At the heart of the concept lies the idea of “movement within stillness.” Expansive openings invite daylight deep into the interior, filling the home with a soft, ever-changing rhythm of illumination. Through carefully positioned Venetian blinds, sunlight is filtered like breath through the body—controlled, deliberate, and poetic—casting elongated shadows that shift throughout the day, transforming the apartment into a living meditation on time and motion. The two bedrooms are intentionally positioned at opposite ends of the home, creating personal retreats that honor solitude and recovery. This separation mirrors the essential balance between exertion and restoration—a philosophy deeply embedded in the owner’s lifestyle. Materiality plays a central emotional role. Natural oak surfaces flow continuously across walls, concealed doors, and integrated storage, creating an environment free from visual noise. Like a well-trained core, the structure is present but never overpowering—strong, refined, and quietly supportive. The tactile warmth of timber contrasts with the cool precision of a stainless-steel kitchen, whose reflective surfaces evolve with the movement of light, echoing the dynamic energy of a body in motion. This residence is not designed merely for living. It is designed for a woman who teaches others how to reconnect with their bodies—and in return, deserves a home that reconnects her with herself.
